The 19th November saw over 220 delegates gather at Blackburn Rovers football club for the 8th annual Skills for Care North West conference. The conference, entitled “partnerships in action: developing world class skills”, looked at the Sector Skills Agreement’s priorities and the Department of Health’s workforce strategy.  The evaluations were very positive with one delegate commenting ‘on the whole a very good day’.

Key note speeches were given by Liz Ryan and Martin Routledge, both from the Department of Health. Liz’s speech provided an update on the imminent workforce strategy, due to be published by the end of March 2009. Martin looked at one specific priority from the Sector Skills Agreement (SSA) – personalisation.

jdee consultancy facilitated a workshop that considered the commissioning implications of self directed support on both the workforce and individuals purchasing supports.
